THE POOL ©
I sat and rested beside a tranquil pool
Of luminescent water
Sparkling with the glow of a thousand stars,
Trying to know how to approach
This glorious reflection of God.
It shimmered with the beauty of the world
Radiating the love of the universe,
Mirroring the elegance of tall trees -
And the delicate beauty of wild flowers.
I am intimate with the sound of these waters -
I have sat and listened while they told me many a tale.
I have known the strength of the river that feeds it -
I have seen it travel over troubled and turbulent rapids
As it came to rest in this place of tranquility.
I know the depths of its center,
Touching the very heart of the earth.
I would know the lake in all its grandeur.
I would walk every inch of the perimeter,
Exploring every nook and cranny.
I would drink of the crystal waters -
Savoring the delicate taste.
I would dive in, immerse myself for a time -
Allowing the cool currents to bathe my soul.
In the presence of such radiant life
I am engulfed with total adoration.
I gently touch a finger to the surface -
Careful not to shatter the dream.
I fear that if it becomes aware of my presence
It will evaporate as a mirage -
And I will be left with nothing.
Why is it I fear intimacy? |
